The Partnership Palm for NEC Computers & the Festival de Cannes

For the 12th consecutive year, NEC Computers is the official IT partner of the Festival de Cannes, which will take place from the 17th until the 28th of May. NEC’s goal during these 2 weeks of the most mediatised event : assure equipment and the maintenance of the IT infrastructure. To illustrate this partnership, NEC launches “e-Motion”, a special edition notebook carrying the Festival de Cannes logo.

All the latest technologies integrated into a state of the art infrastructure

To this partnership, NEC offers all its know-how and expertise to the organisers and participants of the Cannes film festival. NEC offers a global infrastructure containing hundreds of computers and provides this through a fibre glass interconnected server.

This allows them to manage the entire IT structure: the 32 000 accreditations and 20 000 journalist badges, real time ticketing (approximately 30 000 tickets), control of the entrances and the cinemas projecting over 2 000 movies…

Technologies on site:
-A network of 10 servers and 350 computers
-A high availability of data, using the NEC ExpressCluster infrastructure
-The capacity and performance of NEC storage solutions
-Backup of data in case of major problems
-High speed and secure communication
-WIFI access

This infrastructure also aids the press room, equipped with the most modern technologies for data transfer, in order to accommodate the needs of over 900 journalists (with more than 1 000 connections a day).

Thanks to NEC, the journalists have available:
-A personalised account ( profile, email address, access to their own data from every computer)
-A user profile in 30 different languages
-A simple and clear user environment

The second most mediatised event following the Olympics, this Cannes film festival is the world’s largest cinematic event. “Red Carpet”, flashes and movie stars from everywhere… the Festival de Cannes is the annual event not to pass by unnoticed.

NEC chose to link dream and reality and offers a special notebook dedicated to the Cannes film festival, carrying the official logo: the NEC “e-Motion”! This limited series notebook is being sold since April 2006 through the distribution chain.

Over 150 clients and partners will have the privilege of mounting the steps of the 59th Cannes Film Festival, thanks to NEC Computers!
As an official partner, NEC offers its invitees to attend the annual cinematographic rendezvous. Walk the red carpet with the stars, visit the press room and backstage, a gastronomic dinner, a superb hotel on “la Croisette”, soirées with the stars… NEC seizes the opportunity to develop a close relationship with its invitees.

In light of the day to day effort to reinforce the internal communication, NEC also invites its own employees. The directive committee has chosen ‘Top Performers’ during the last two years and will continue to award the best performers in the company. These persons, of all services and different sites in Europe, have been selected by their managers. The criteria are based on their general contribution during 2005 and in particular: their motivation, their dynamism, their professionalism and their implication within the company. The 6 employees and their partner are set to spend two days of their dreams on the Croisette à Cannes!

Every year NEC capitalises on this event to the maximum and adapts all its communications to support the Festival look: web banners, e-mailings, catalogues, commercials, commercial objects, posters, etc.
