The new KM-4850w from Kyocera Mita offers the highest quality wide format copying, printing and network scanning.

The KM-4850w enters the mid volume market, replacing the Xi8020, and improving on the already impressive image quality of its predecessor using multibit printing technology. 4bit per dot printing, which is the highest in the industry, results in a significantly smoother, sharper image when printing curves and fine lines.

Designed for specialist industries such as engineering and CAD/CAM environments the KM-4850w is ideal for producing the highest quality prints and copies of drawings, and designs bigger than A3 format up to A0 or 6 metre long format. Copy/reprographic shops will also benefit from the excellent quality and low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) offered by the KM-4850w.

Image quality
Image quality is produced at a high standard resolution of 600 x 600 dpi, with 256 greyscale per dot for scanning, and 16 greyscale per dot for printing/copying.

High speed and productivity
The KM-4850w has extremely high productivity, with the fastest first copy time in the market - less than 18 seconds for A1 size prints and copies. High-speed copying/printing is standard, with competitive times for each format at 4 8m/min, 4 A0/min and 7 A1/min.

The KM-4850w has a standard memory of 128MB which stores scanned images and allows the user to make another copy with different settings without re-scanning.

The KM-4850w includes a standard 2-paper roll and bypass with one optional RU-4 paper roll and high productivity with high speed copying and up to 3 roll paper capacity.

Ease of use
‘Easy to use’ features for improved operability are key to the design of the KM-4850w. The stand up operation panel and LCD display with back lighting means the screen is easy to read and navigate with improved visibility. The paper roll structure has been mechanically improved since the design of the previous model, making the paper rolls far easier to load.

The KM-4850w was carefully designed to give the maximum protection for old, torn, damaged or strongly curled, originals. The device will mechanically align the original to avoid a mistake in feeding.

‘Dual Access’ on the KM-4850w means that, while the printing or copying functions are in use, the scanner can also be accessed without waiting for another job. Memory capacity is 128MB as standard, which can produce up to 99 copies from a single scan operation. Optional memory is available at DIMM 128MB, 256MB or 512MB and maximum memory is a huge 1GB.

Design
An innovative design for the KM-4850w combines attractive and practical features in-line with the other new Kyocera Mita devices. Grey and midnight blue have been used for its compact, space-saving shell.

Easy printing from all platforms
By installing the optional controller, the KM-4850w can print from all platforms and operating systems, such as Windows, Macintosh and UNIX. Besides dedicated drivers, the optional printer controller has a built-in web server, allowing the user to administer the print job from a standard web browser.

Printing documents from the desktop couldn’t be easier with the Plotter system supporting a variety of CAD formats including HP-GL, HP-GL2, HP-RTL, DWG, DXF, TIFF and JPEG. The ADI/HDI driver is also supported for Auto CAD application.

Network Scanner
As well as printing capabilities, the network scanner is also available by installing the optional Scanner/Plotter System (E). Bundled “KM-SCANTOOL” gives the user the full package of scanning possibilities such as ‘scan to file,’ batch scanning, image editor and scan to copy functions.

The new embedded network interface from Kyocera Mita is standard with the Fast Ethernet interface (10/100 baseTx) and support for KM NET VIEWER.

KM NET VIEWER allows the user to manage all of the devices on the network from the desktop. Setting and assessing the status of each device means the user can access information on paper jams and check remaining quantities of paper and toner, which allows easy and efficient management of the order/stock of consumables.

The KM-4850w is available throughout Europe and will enter at the top of the market for quality, productivity, and ease of use. The innovative design of the KM-4850w not only produces the best wide format image on the market, but it also offers the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO).
