Just before the end of the school year the regional business managers of the largest global manufacturers of wheeled combat vehicles, General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) and General Dynamics Mission Systems, have met the management of Veliko Tarnovo NMU. Col.eng. Evgeni Penchev and the deputy dean of Combined Arms Faculty and lieutenant colonel ph. Eng. Ilyan Angelov also attended the meeting.
The occasion was the information day organized for Combined Arms Faculty at NMU, where Mr.Michael Wetstein and Mr. Michael parker together with Nikolay Yordanov, Executive Director of KONTRAX AD, commercial representative of GDELS in Bulgaria, have presented to the lecturers and students of the high military school the high technology solution of General Dynamics for the Bulgarian Army, amongst which also the armoured combat vehicle PIRANHA 5 and modern communication and information system (CIS) of General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS). It is proposed under the program for equipping the battalion battle groups (BBG) of the Bulgarian Army. PIRANHA is one of the most successful combat 8x8 vehicles around the world. Over 12 000 vehicles are operated in 20 countries, including European countries, such as Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Romania, Spain, and Switzerland.
The event discussions included the cooperation opportunities, common work, establishing new educational classes and laboratories at Combined Arms Faculty, and in addition the strategic communication and information systems purposed for the vehicles and army’s tactical operational centers, were presented. The experts of General Dynamics discussed various programs for exchange and acquiring of additional qualification, as well as the opportunities for promotion, cooperated manufacture and sale of Bulgarian solutions and inventions for the defense industry globally.
The guests visited the monument of Vasil Levski, St.Sedmochilenitsi church and crypt thereto.
